Zion Lutheran Church is an open community of faith where all are
invited to worship, learn, grow, care and be cared for. Visitors are
welcome to participate in any and all opportunities Zion has to offer.
New guidelines are beginning May 1, 2021 for building use. See the documents and website below to learn more. Indoor worship is scheduled for Sunday, May 9, 2021. Please check here or call the church office between the hours of 8-2 to learn more. You will need to reserve your seat if in person worship is allowed. There is a section below on quick facts regarding in person COVID worship. These will help you familiarize yourself with the format of worship. Please join us outside at 11:00 am for our outdoor service!
Church leadership has revisited our COVID building use plan in light of higher vaccination rates and have approved the following changes to our Building plan. Please see below a quick facts sheet, the complete revised plan and the MDH website for reviewing the numbers yourself.
Join us for Drive-In Worship in Zion’s back parking lot at 11:00 AM on Sundays!
During this time of COVID, Zion Lutheran Church has been offering a drive-in church service. If there should be any cancellation please check social media and the church phone message (218) 879-4647.
If it is below 40 degrees or rainy/inclement weather, we will hold our 11am service in the Kwik Trip parking lot, viewing the Pastor indoors. Otherwise our 11am service will be held in our back parking lot near the community garden. Feel free to participate from your car or bring a lawn chair to sit outside!
We are now offering an indoor worship option at 9:00 am. You need to call by Friday at 2:00 pm to reserve your seat. You can worship with us online through Facebook and YouTube. Sunday services are posted to social media by early afternoon. You
can also listen on WKLK 1230 AM on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am and watch
on CAT-7 on Sundays at 9:30 am and Wednesdays at 5:30 pm – or here on our website by clicking the link below.
Please take the time to update your information. You can find update forms in the church entryway, in bulletins and coming up in the next newsletter. Please fill out even if you think your information has not changed so we can verify our database.
Our next HSYG is, Sunday May 16th, 6:30-8pm. We will hold outside if the weather permits, otherwise plan to be distanced and masked indoors. Our next MSYG will take place Wednesday, May 19th, 3:30-5pm. Weather permitting, our MSYG will meet outside, in person. If there is bad weather, we will reschedule.
Congregational Book Read New Dates! May 6, 13 and 20, 2021 from 6:30-7:30 pm. Join us in conversation as we study and read the book, “A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota”. Edited by Sun Yung Shin. We are meeting in the Fellowship Hall and on Zoom. Seating is limited in the Fellowship Hall, so please call ahead to reserve your seat. 218-879-4647.
Our next SNAZE is , May 9th. We plan to meet outside at the Historic Scott House in Carlton. If poor weather conditions, we will meet on Zoom. Group activity starts at 3:30 pm and worship is from 4-5 pm.
Senior Sunday is May 16th at 10:00 am at our outdoor service. This will be the only service this day so that all friends, family and congregation members can honor the graduating seniors. Also, please turn in your pictures and Bios to Katie ASAP!
You can call or email Pastor CJ to set up a time to visit outdoors for a time of fellowship and prayer. He is available 9-12 on Thursdays or Fridays, 3-5 pm.
Thursday, May 20th. from 4:00-6:30 pm. All are welcome! Wear old clothes and garden gloves. Masks required. we have the tools!
Registration is available open for family VBS. You can find registration forms in the Narthex or also here under faith formation/children and families tab . Please note, a form needs to be filled out for both children and adults. The registration deadline is June 1st. VBS will be Monday, June 14th and Wednesday, June 16th. They take place from 5-7 pm both nights.

During the summer months, every other Wednesday from 6:30-7:15 pm for worship and 7:15-8:00 pm for fellowship. See the newsletter and website for more details.
Beginning Sunday, May 23rd, we will be offering a time of fellowship at 10:00 am outdoors before the 11:00 am drive up worship. You are welcome to join us in fellowship and to sip boldly!
